An easy way to build support systems for the industry and construction – the Hydra and Framo systems complement one another

Traditionally, secondary support systems in production facilities and plants have been realised as welded steel structures. The modular Framo systems are assembled on-site and fixed with screws, without the need for any welding. With the Hydra and Framo systems, you can design and realise even challenging support solutions quickly and easily. Compared with standard solutions, these systems save time and money. The overall savings can be as high as 20–30%.

Ideal for heavy structures, Hydra is designed for process and stem pipes, containers, air and smoke chutes and components of power plant boilers in various industrial applications. Our selection encompasses constant and spring hangers, pipe support and clamps and the Flexperte 3D design software.

Framo is a CE-approved channel system for building modular frames and structures. In addition to support systems for pipes, Framo elements can be used to build platforms, stairs, bridges and railings. Under certain circumstances, Framo products can be used as secondary supports for Hydra supports. This eliminates the need for traditional I or H beams and allows you to benefit from the Framo beams’ outstanding properties.

The Framo system brings several benefits compared with welded structures:

  1. You can create significant savings in logistics costs

Because Framo systems are assembled on-site, they take up less space during transport. Whereas a conventional steel system requires five transport containers, one may suffice for a modular Framo solution. This results in significant savings and reduces traffic to the project site, decreasing the environmental burden.

  1. Time is saved on the worksite

Framo systems are assembled with thread-forming screws, without the need for bolts or back plates. All you need is an impact screw driver. Preparations and installation are carried out quickly, and the structure is ready to use straightaway. The system eliminates the need for any post-welding work, such as repair painting.

‘The system may be twice as fast to assemble as a traditional, welded steel structure.’

  1. Anyone can assemble the system – no welder is required

With qualified welders in high demand, one may not be available when you need welding work to be performed on your project site. Framo systems can be assembled without a welder. A fitter can mount the system – and no hot work permits or permits related to working with chemicals are required. This saves time and resources on the worksite. Safety risks are reduced as hot work is not needed.

  1. Light structures are easier to handle and help reduce the project’s carbon footprint

Because of their light weight, Framo systems take less material to manufacture than conventional support and platform structures. Because of this, they help reduce a project’s carbon footprint and decrease the environmental burden of its construction operations. Light structures are easy to handle and transfer without heavy machinery.

  1. Framo systems are easy to adapt and extend

However carefully plans are prepared, surprises do happen on worksites. The structures may collide or the platform height needs to be adjusted. With their screw fixtures, Framo systems are easy to dismantle and reassemble, with new components and elements added to them. Even sudden changes can be carried out quickly and easily without the need for welding.

  1. Hydra and Framo are complementary systems that meet a wide range of needs

Framo comes into its own as a solution for various platforms and support structures for lighter pipes. Hydra offers an ideal solution for sturdier structures where supports are required for heavy and hot pipes, boilers and containers. The systems complement one another, and together they meet a wide range of needs in plant construction in terms of design and realisation.

  1. Free design programs make design and procurements easier

With Hydra, the customer gains access to the Flexperte design software. To help with the design of Framo systems, the manufacturer Sikla offers the SiCAD software. With these programs, you can accurately calculate the structures’ load-bearing capacities and the amount of products required, which makes procurement decisions easy. No products go to waste and you always have everything you need. 3D images enable you to visualise the systems in relation to the facilities and the existing support systems.
